On October 20th, join Joe for his presentation, "Beyond the Filing: Finding What Traditional Tax Data Misses." In this session, Joe will discuss how agencies can harness OSINT to address Transfer Pricing and other complex tax problems.
Description: Tax authorities are increasingly confronting complex cases in which the information needed to understand risk does not sit neatly inside a return, disclosure, or internal database. Transfer pricing, beneficial ownership, related-party activity, and other sophisticated tax issues often require investigators to connect information across corporate records, websites, public filings, transactions, ownership structures, and other open-source data. This session will explore how tax administrations can use OSINT to complement traditional tax data, uncover relationships and economic activity that may otherwise remain hidden, and accelerate the investigative work required to evaluate complex cases. Through practical examples, attendees will see how publicly available information can help authorities identify relevant entities, connect cross-border relationships, surface indicators of risk, and build a more complete, evidence-backed picture for further investigation.
